Machu Picchu = Ancient Mountain (Part 1: Huayna Picchu)

On our last full day of the trip we headed from Aguas Calientes up, up, up at 5:30am to Machu Picchu park. We had an hour to explore part of the main park (where Machu Picchu is located) before we could even enter the other part of the park (with Huayna Picchu) at 7am. In Quechua, Huayna Picchu means ‘Young Mountain’ and in order to hike it you need to obtain tickets in advance (200 people are allowed to entered at each 7am and 10am). Once in we enjoyed the challenge of the hike and the breathtaking view from up top. We could have stayed up there ALL day…
